Exclusive: ItsBizkit.com x Dali Voodoo Interview

I recently got the chance to catch up with Dali Voodoo for an exclusive interview! Dali speaks on the current state of hip-hop, his new music, and more. Check it out below!

1. It’s been a big summer for you with all the hype surrounding your releases! What can we expect next from Dali Voodoo?

I don’t really like to talk too much on what’s next, but just expect more music and more visuals. I’ll be in Atlanta next month for A3C. I have a couple of shows out there. It’s gonna be a Movie. Popcorn. Matinee.

2.We’ve seen you’ve been really traveling & moving around all summer! Where did you visit & what were your travels like?

I was in Denver a couple times and we linked with some dudes named Squizzy. There’s an artist out there that’s really dope named Trev Rich. I hit Los Angeles to get in studio with my boy Jay Kurzweil. We’ve got a lot of shit coming out together. I spent my birthday in Toronto for OVO fest with my manager and my brother Billie Bands. The trip back was crazy! We hit Detroit, Chicago, and some country ass town in Nebraska. I met a lot of people this summer and it’s cool to see how people are all over the country. Everyone has their own lingo and way of doing things that’s different.

3. With all the hustle and bustle of having to go city to city, I wanna know what do you like to do on your days off? What describes the perfect day off for Dali Voodoo?

Honestly, it can go two ways. I could either live like a Caucasian and go to like a museum or something and eat at some bouji sushi place ooooor I can just be a homebody. Chill in my room, with the lights off, watching Naruto or Netflix.

4. What was the inspiration for “Decoration”?

Like in layman’s terms it’s just about allowing yourself to be vulnerable. Although you’re not really sure what this person’s intentions are, you allow them to get close because you really enjoy their company. At the end of the day it really doesn’t matter if it works out or not because they were what you needed at the time.

5. So are you currently single then?

Y’all wilding… I mean I guess there’s this little situation that’s caught my eye. We been rockin for like two years now. We’re gonna keep it as low key as possible for as long as we can. Okay, next question!

6. Okay we’ll change gears for a second, what are your thoughts on the current state of hip hop?

In the eyes of Daddy Dali, it’s kind of black and white. You’re either this, or that. There are a few exceptions though.

7. Who would you say are the top 5 people you want to work most with in the industry?

Hmmmm if I had to say five…. I’m horrible at placing things in order so I’ll just kind of say them as they come to mind. I really think Jeremih is dope. He has this level of creativity and fun that he brings to every track. In my eyes Boi 1 Da and Dj Mustard are two of the greatest producers. Every instrumental is rememberable. Tink! Bro she is so fucking sick! Her flow is crazy and her singing makes me want to cry my eyes out because it’s so beautiful, or do nasty things that we’re not gonna speak about at this moment. Aaaaaand number five would have to be Chance the Rapper. Not only is everything that he makes a work of art, but he is literally changing the game. He’s paving a way for other independent artists to be recognized and respected.
