Leven Kai Shares New Single “Pieces”

Today, GRAMMY® Award-nominated multihyphenate Leven Kali serves up an alluring new single entitled “Pieces” out now via Def Jam Recordings.

Acoustic guitar and a head-nodding beat hold down the track’s effortless harmonies. Leven’s vocals practically float over the soundscape. Building up momentum, loose jazz riffing gives way to an intoxicating refrain punctuated by an invitation, “You wanna make love? You wanna get high?” leaning into the psychedelic sonic sound.

It continues what is shaping into a breakout 2025 for the rising phenomenon. Earlier this year, he dropped the fan favorite “Are U Still” joined by an impressive performance video. Upon arrival, Rolling Stone included it as SONGS YOU NEED TO KNOW, VIBE raved, “Leven Kali is back and arguably, this is the drop we’ve been looking forward to the most,” and Earmilk professed, ‘ARE U STILL’ features the same poignant and sincere songwriting, but with a more jazzy flow.

Kali’s buttery vocals slide over animated drums with some intense moments of instrumentation, making for an explosive entrance to a new year. Rated R&B applauded, “The funky song feels like the sun peeking through the clouds after a storm, hinting at clearer skies ahead.” SoulBounce mused, “If this is any indication of where Leven Kali will be taking us next, then we can’t wait to go along for the ride.”
