Feds Fight Big U’s Trial Delay, Cite Cooperating Witness’s Vandalized Home In Court Filing

The fight over Big U’s trial date just got darker — federal prosecutors are arguing that delaying his racketeering trial puts cooperating witnesses in danger, and they’re pointing to a witness’s vandalized home as the proof.

Eugene “Big U” Henley Jr., the Los Angeles music executive prosecutors accuse of running a criminal enterprise connected to the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips, is scheduled for trial on February 16, 2027. His newly appointed attorneys filed an emergency motion on October 23 asking to move the trial to October 19, 2027, saying they need more time to work through more than 1.1 million pages of discovery in a case carrying roughly 50 counts.

Feds say delaying Big U's trial puts witnesses at risk

In their October 26 opposition, prosecutors pushed back with witness safety. “That exposure is not hypothetical,” they wrote. “One cooperating witness’s identity has been spread on social media, and his home was vandalized, burglarized, and spray-painted with the word ‘rat.'” To be clear about what the filing does and doesn’t say: it does not accuse Henley of carrying out that attack.

Prosecutors also pointed to charges added this summer alleging Henley solicited and attempted to tamper with a witness while detained — conduct they allege occurred on or before June 10, 2026. He pleaded not guilty to those charges in August, and not guilty in the broader case.

Henley has been in custody since March 2025. Judge Fernando Aenlle-Rocha has not ruled on the delay request, so February 16, 2027 remains the trial date — for now.
