Bright Day Introduces His Feel Good R&B Sound With New Single “Brand New”
Bronx singer and songwriter Bright Day is stepping into a new chapter with the upcoming release of his new single, “Brand New,” arriving September 4, 2026.
Blending contemporary R&B and pop with the soul and showmanship of an earlier generation, Bright Day is introducing listeners to an artist who wants the feeling behind the music to matter just as much as the sound.
Born and raised in the Bronx, Bright Day, whose given name is Eric Bright, has been connected to music since childhood. By age 10, he had already discovered the impact a song could have on a room. Songwriting became an early creative outlet, and by 18, he had management and knew that pursuing music was going to become a serious part of his life.
His musical influences tell you plenty about the type of artist he aspires to be. Michael Jackson, Bobby Brown, George Michael, Stevie Wonder and Phil Collins are among the names that helped shape his appreciation for strong melodies, memorable performances and records capable of lasting beyond their release date.
But Bright Day isn’t interested in simply recreating another era. His music takes those influences and filters them through his own experiences, resulting in records centered around love, attraction, emotion, pain and personal growth.
The journey behind the artist is just as important.
Bright Day was born legally blind in one eye and experienced family dysfunction and numerous setbacks along the way. Those experiences helped shape his perspective and even contributed to the meaning behind his artist name. A play on Eric Bright, Bright Day represents his outlook on life and the belief that joy, light and better circumstances can eventually follow difficult seasons.
“Bright Day has the type of story that makes you want to see where the journey goes,” says veteran entertainment publicist Lynn Hobson.
“There is a genuine love for music there, but there is also personality, life experience and an understanding of presentation. When you put those elements together, you have the foundation for an artist who can connect with people beyond just one record.”
That journey now leads to “Brand New.”
The upcoming single started with an unexpected moment of inspiration. Bright Day had a melody pop into his head one night when a nearby box containing a pair of new shoes gave him an idea. He began thinking about the feeling associated with something new, fresh and flawless and wondered how that same idea could be applied to describing a woman.
The concept quickly became “Brand New.”
Smooth and flirtatious with a confident feel, the song centers on a woman who immediately captures attention. The record isn’t only about attraction, however. Bright Day approaches the concept from the perspective of admiration and wanting a woman to feel every bit as good as she looks.
Written by Eric Bright and produced by Cass Maya, “Brand New” was chosen as the first introduction to this phase of Bright Day’s career because it captures his personality while remaining accessible to listeners discovering him for the first time.
The official visual continues that introduction, placing romance, fashion and personality at the center as Bright Day goes out of his way to make his love interest feel “brand new.”
Fashion is particularly important to the singer’s overall presentation. Bright Day views personal style as another opportunity for self-expression and isn’t afraid to experiment with his look. Fitness also plays a significant role in his life, representing discipline, presentation and personal evolution.
Bright Day has explored his creativity outside of music as well. He is the self-published author of Eyes Wide Open, a love story with a superhero-inspired theme.
Still, this next chapter is clearly about the music.
“Brand New” is expected to serve as the starting point for a larger body of work. Bright Day is already considering “Love Will Reign” as a possible follow-up single and is developing a documentary project to accompany his music, which could eventually expand into short-form narrative film.
He also has his sights set on the stage. Bright Day describes his performances as fun, fierce, energetic, unexpected and memorable, with the flexibility to perform alongside live musicians or performance tracks depending on the setting.
For an independent Bronx artist building his next chapter from years of life experience, Bright Day’s philosophy is simple.
