Claressa Shields Goes Off On Gervonta “Tank” Davis, Alleges She Witnessed Him Assault A Woman: “I Sat On That For Years”
What started as a shot at an outfit has turned into one of the ugliest public feuds in boxing — and now it carries a serious allegation.

Gervonta “Tank” Davis kicked it off by posting footage of Claressa Shields at her Atlanta music event and mocking what she wore: “@claressashields you look a hot ass mess..” Shields’ boyfriend, Papoose, stepped in to defend her and clowned Davis’ performance against Lamont Roach. Davis then threatened to put the rapper to sleep.
Shields answered with an AI image of Davis wearing a version of her outfit — and then she took it somewhere much heavier. In a heated livestream rant captured by Happy Punch and reported by AllHipHop, Shields alleged that she personally watched Davis assault a woman at a basketball game years ago and stayed quiet about it until now.
“Tank beat a b—- up in my face at a basketball game. I sat on that sh*t for years and never said nothing,” Shields said, repeatedly calling Davis a “woman beater” during the rant.
Shields also said the two were once friendly, and that the tension traces back to her publicly picking Shakur Stevenson to beat Davis in a potential fight — an opinion she says Davis never got over. In her telling, his outfit post was just the latest shot in a long-running grudge.
To be clear about what this is: Shields’ claim is an allegation she made on her own livestream. It has not been independently verified, she did not name the woman or give a date or location for the alleged incident, and Davis had not publicly responded to the allegation itself as this story published.
Her description is landing with extra weight because of a matter of public record. In February 2020, during Super Bowl weekend in Miami, video from a charity basketball game showed Davis grabbing the mother of his child and pulling her out of her seat. He was arrested and charged with two misdemeanor counts of simple battery in that case; prosecutors abandoned the charges in December 2022. Shields did not say whether she was describing that incident or a different one, and ITSBIZKIT is not treating the two as the same event.
What is certain is that this feud is no longer about a fit or a fight prediction. One of the most decorated fighters in the sport just put a firsthand claim on the record against another one of boxing’s biggest names — and everybody in the sport is going to have to answer for where they stand on it.
