Jharrel Jerome Drops His First Full-Length Mixtape
Rising MC and Primetime Emmy, Critic’s Choice and NAACP awards-winning actor, Jharrel Jerome just released his first full length mixtape titled More Than A Bronx Tale – in partnership with Feeture and available exclusively on SoundCloud. The drop comes with the catchy “BoomBoomBoom” which is a perfect blend of Jharrel’s Dominican and uptown NYC roots. The news of the mixtape started with the drop of what critics have called “a fiery new single,” titled “Chu Know.”
The first Afro-Latino and Dominican to win an acting Emmy, has used the last year to return to his first love: music and the result is Jharrel finally able to begin to fully answer a question he gets all too well: “Who is Jharrel Jerome?”
Jharrel kicked off the upcoming 6 track mixtape addressing the elephant in the room right away, starting with the slick and confidently leveling “Chu Know,” produced by the Grammy-winning Rob Knox (Justin Timberlake, T.I., Rihanna) who likened Jharrel’s ability to build songs and rhyme against large juxtaposing arrangements and melodic productions that fill the room and listeners’ ears as much as the artist on the track, to the likes of Ludacris and an early J.Cole.
The project also features production by 6ix (Logic) and embodies Jharrel’s true evolution as an MC, which he shares;
“My direction in music is fed by my roots back in NYC and my love of performance. Everyone knows my story in Hollywood, but few about my journey there, which started in NYC, from the Bronx to the Lower East Side.”
This mixtape does just that and more, as Jharrel voraciously pursues his dreams; he desires to reach the pinnacle of both art forms at once one day, dreaming of a year where he acts in a top movie and drops well-received, top-selling LPs.
