MexikoDro Unleashes “Still Goin The EP”
In the fast lane towards a critically acclaimed breakthrough, Platinum-certified Atlanta producer, “Plugg” pioneer, rapper, and artist MexikoDro unleashes his anxiously awaited project, Still Goin The EP today! It showcases the scope of his signature style and the depth of his vision as one of the culture’s most prolific rising stars. To herald its release, he also uncovers the official music video for the single “Twice.”
Locked and loaded with 14 tracks, MexikoDro puts his foot on the gas and never relents throughout the project’s duration. “Twice” laces a booming beat with otherworldly synth loops. Looking back on various trials and tribulations, he gets confessional, going on to pledge, “I was fucking up. Mexiko ain’t doing it twice.” The accompanying visual mirrors this energy with its tight closeups and frenetic editing. “Hurt” floats on a bed of ominous piano until he gets back up and goes at ‘em even harder, “Got the money, now it’s time to go to work.” Then, there’s “Den.” He lyrically takes no prisoners with a furious flow, and he assures, “Everything real when I write with this pen.” This body of work comes to a close with “Doin Right.” He recognizes the opportunity in front of him, and he makes the most of it in between strains of vibrant trumpet.
He leaves off on a positive note, “I’m gonna take it serious, this my blessing.”
He set the stage for the release with “Remy.” VICE applauded how, “MexikoDro makes modern day hustler music.” Of course, Still Goin The EP also includes “Height,” which gathered over 4 million Spotify streams. Standing firm as a champion, Vice also pegged it as one of “3 New Hip-Hop & R&B Songs You Must Hear This Week,” proceeding to rave, “He’s one of hip-hop’s few blue collar workers, extremely grounded with a penchant for old school rides.” REMIXD MAGAZINE professed, “His historic run won’t be ending anytime soon, as he is singlehandedly keeping hope alive.” Prior, “MARTA” kickstarted this season. Upon its release, Pitchfork highlighted it as “the follow-up to his hype-stirring single “No Date,” while artists like Yeat and Tyler, The Creator joined a growing wave of co-signs for his sound.
MexikoDro has already surged throughout the culture as an influential producer, cooking up tracks for everyone from Drake to Playboi Carti and Kodak Black. Along the way, he quietly unveiled his solo music, picking up the mic and introducing another side of his artistry.
