New Music: Lil Lonnie ft. Bryson Tiller – Change Up
Rising Mississippi rapper Lil Lonnie might look young, but he has the self-assurance and confidence on the mic of a veteran. With a strong sense of melody and a radio-ready autotune tone, the 20-year-old Jackson-native could be the next star to explode out of the South. Today, Lil Lonnie announces his latest project TKWGO 2, the sequel to last year’s underground hit They Know What’s Goin’ On, which was the top-downloaded independent mixtape on LiveMixtapes in 2015.
Lil Lonnie connects with R&B star Bryson Tiller and producer Big Fruit (Yo Gotti’s “Law”) for “Change Up,” a skeletal kick-drum driven trap banger about staying true to your day ones after getting money. Premiered today by Billboard, the track displays Lonnie’s impressive musicality and melodicism, which meshes perfectly with Bryson Tiller’s T R A P S O U L. Lil Lonnie’s TKWGO 2 releases on June 6th.
