Kent Jamz Reemerges With New EP “Fear”
Critically lauded, Kent Jamz has ended his three-year hiatus with a reintroduction rooted in R&B. The Los Angeles-bred singer-songwriter has unleashed his brand-new EP, FEAR, out now via Epic Records, featuring seven songs and production from K. Roosevelt, Gwen Bunn, Jairus Mozee, and more. In support of FEAR’s release, Kent has also added another chapter of the project’s on-screen story, the official visualizer for “affirmations.”
The “affirmations” visual extends Kent’s creative vision, turning the spirit of FEAR into a piece of performance art. Through expressive imagery and tone, it reflects the patience and vulnerability that define his work while capturing the project’s deeper themes of growth and connection.
For several weeks, Kent has woven a tale of love, yearning and transformation with a one-two punch of lead singles, “patience,” “renegade” and “mi sombra,” and cinematic visualizers for each. Ahead of today’s release, he paid homage to the creative support that’s allowed him to present FEAR through such a unique lens.

The former OverDoz. standout’s commitment to artistic range is clear, from the acoustic tone of the EP’s title track “fear” to the pulsing 808s and breathy delivery of “renegade.
The EP’s title emanates from a period of rebirth for Kent, who spent two years recording the project while walking the road to sobriety at a rehab facility in Los Angeles. With the support of Roosevelt, Mozee and Bunn, Kent turned his new reality into sound, addressing the many facets of his story and artistry through a succinct collection of songs that add a breath of fresh air to his solo journey.
The new creative space Kent entered during his recording process has already paid dividends. VIBE, Billboard, Okayplayer, and EBONY have taken notice of his renewed musical outlook, with the latter praising his immersive approach and distinctive sound.
“This EP taught me there’s no one way to work,” Kent said of the unique workflow that resulted in FEAR. “I used to feel pressure to finish songs in one sitting, but now I know I can let a song breathe and come back to it. I can be efficient when I need to be, and free when I need to be.”
FEAR marks Kent’s first solo project since his 2022 debut Fanclub, capturing a new chapter of growth, clarity, and self-discovery. The project reflects his evolution as both a person and artist, grounded in honesty, and intention. Kent continues to earn the respect of his peers and fans alike, with early co-signs from Pharrell, Nipsey Hussle, Kendrick Lamar, and Childish Gambino serving as lasting testaments to his artistry and influence.
