Rising global independent artist Deportee is making waves with his bold and purposeful new single, “Black Women Are Not Cheap.” Bridging cultures and genres, the Detroit and St. Mary, Jamaica native delivers a record that goes beyond music—sparking conversation while resonating with audiences worldwide.

Born from a moment of reflection, the track was inspired by a controversial scene in Young Nudy’sPeaches & Eggplants” video. What followed was a creative response rooted in respect and intention. Deportee transformed his reaction into a powerful cultural statement—one that uplifts and re-centers the value of Black women.

The whole of a person is greater than their parts,” he shares, a message that echoes throughout the record.

The release arrives amid growing momentum for Deportee, who continues to carve out his place on the global stage. He previously secured two #1 placements on the iTunes Reggae Charts in Mexico and Bermuda, while standout tracks like “Caught Up,” “Getting Back With My Ex,” “Bad Mama Jama,” “Pressure Point,” and “2 Pretty” have solidified his reputation as an artist to watch.

Deportee’s journey is as expansive as his sound. Raised as the son of a U.S. diplomat across eight countries, he developed a deep cultural awareness that now informs his seamless fusion of Dancehall, Reggae, Hip-Hop, and R&B. His authenticity has fueled standout moments, including a performance at the Jamaica Kite Festival in 2023 and recognition within the Dancehall community—highlighted by an introduction from Selecta Boom Boom at the iconic Boom Boom Sundays.

Across Jamaica’s vibrant party circuit, Deportee’s music has become a fixture. From Uptown Mondays to Skyline Fridays, his records consistently energize the “Gyal Segment”—a defining moment in Dancehall culture dedicated to celebrating women—making his latest release a natural extension of that energy and message.

Beyond the music, Deportee is building a global movement. With executive production credits like “The Pandora Riddim” and international showcases such as the Yardie Bajan Vibes in Barbados, his influence continues to grow. Still, it’s his intention that sets him apart—using his platform to spark dialogue around gender, culture, and respect.

At a time when much of the industry leans into surface-level narratives, Deportee is choosing depth and purpose. With “Black Women Are Not Cheap,” he’s not just delivering a standout single—he’s making a statement the world can’t ignore.
