Chris Brown Calls Cap on Backstage Fight Rumors With Usher as Atlanta Run Rolls On
The R&B Tour’s historic Atlanta stand is making headlines for everything except the music.

Chris Brown and Usher’s five-night run at Mercedes-Benz Stadium opened Thursday night (November 5) with a show that, by fan accounts and local reviews, went sideways: the concert began more than two hours after its advertised start time, the sets were shortened, and the two co-headliners reportedly never shared the stage — a big deal on a tour built around separate sets plus joint performances. According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, DJ Fresh entertained the crowd for an extended stretch before the singers appeared, the review criticized the sound quality and called portions of the show rushed, and Usher’s representatives couldn’t explain the delay when contacted during the concert.
Then came the rumor. TMZ reported that Brown and Usher got into a verbal argument backstage. Per TMZ’s sources, heavy traffic around the stadium had fans arriving late, and the two disagreed over whether to hold the show — Brown allegedly wanted to start anyway, Usher allegedly wanted to wait. TMZ’s sources also described the pair as highly competitive throughout the tour. Neither artist has confirmed any argument.
Brown answered Friday (November 6) on his Instagram Story, per Complex: “Internet 🧢. Don’t fall for it.”
Some fans also raised eyebrows at Usher telling the crowd, “Atlanta, welcome to my show,” during his opening remarks.
What’s not in dispute is the scale: the five-show engagement sets a Mercedes-Benz Stadium record for the most performances by one tour in a single stop, passing Beyoncé’s four-night Cowboy Carter run in 2025. And despite the cancellation chatter floating around, the run is on — Night 2 goes down Friday night (November 6), with three more Atlanta shows behind it on November 8, 10 and 11. After Thursday, all eyes are on whether the joint performances show up this time.
