Babyface Ray & Veeze Link Up On “Nigel Sylvester” Ahead Of ‘Unfuckwitable 2’
Detroit stays working. Babyface Ray is back outside with “Nigel Sylvester,” his brand new single featuring Veeze, and the timing is no accident — the record landed Friday, November 6, exactly one week before his next album, Unfuckwitable 2, arrives on Friday, November 13.

The single is named for BMX star Nigel Sylvester, and it sounds like money from the first piano key. As HotNewHipHop noted in its write-up of the record, the production carries a lavish feel, with lounging pianos sprinkled in throughout while Ray and Veeze deliver their signature flows and trade bars. Neither Detroit native ever raises his voice — that cool, unbothered delivery is the whole point, and the two sound like they recorded it in the same room, passing the session back and forth without missing a step.
An official video arrived alongside the single, cutting between Ray performing in a wood-paneled room, a pianist working the keys and a BMX rider outside — a direct nod to the man the song is named after.
There is a message in the title, too. Nigel Sylvester built his name in BMX by betting on himself and taking his bike places the sport never expected — the same independent, move-how-you-want energy Ray has rapped about for his whole career. Naming the record after him is a salute between two men who each turned a lane of their own into a living.
This link-up was a long time coming. Ray and Veeze have connected before, including on “Gallery Dept,” and both men have carried the Detroit wave onto the national stage: Ray’s albums FACE, MOB and Summer’s Mine all charted on the Billboard 200, and Veeze made his own Billboard 200 noise with Ganger. When the two of them share a record, it is less a feature and more a city checking in with itself.
“Nigel Sylvester” is the latest look at Unfuckwitable 2, the sequel to Ray’s 2021 project Unfuckwitable. Ray announced the album himself on Instagram on November 6, posting the cover art and the full tracklist: 18 songs with guest appearances from Veeze, 42 Dugg, Peezy, King Hendrick$, Lil Yee, Poppa, DJ Scream, Babyface and Babyfxce E. Apple Music already carries the album as an upcoming release dated November 13, and the response under Ray’s announcement post tells you where the fans’ heads are at — “My Thoughts 6,” “Start This Over Again” and “Jiffy Mix” are the records getting circled early, with plenty of album-of-the-year talk already flying.
The single is out now on Wavy Gang and EMPIRE across all streaming platforms. Unfuckwitable 2 lands Friday, November 13 — Detroit season is officially in full effect.
