Lil Durk Gets No Answer — Judge Takes Bond Decision Under Review, Ruling Coming in the Days Ahead

Lil Durk walked into a Los Angeles courtroom on Wednesday (November 4) looking for an answer — and walked back to his cell without one.
After a two-hour bond hearing that ran from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM local time, Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald did not rule on Durk’s request to be released while he awaits his next trial. According to HotNewHipHop, reporting from court reporter Michael Blackshire, the judge took the bond request under submission and plans to review the filings from both sides over the coming days before he makes his decision.
That means Durk’s status doesn’t change tonight. He stays in federal custody — where he has been since October 2024, even after a jury acquitted him on all five charges in his first federal murder-for-hire trial in September — while the judge weighs a bond package built around support letters from JAY-Z and J. Cole, a reported Sony Music guarantee of up to $1 million, and Durk’s own future earnings, royalties and touring income put up as collateral.
Prosecutors pushed back hard at the hearing. Per the same HotNewHipHop report, the government argued Durk is a flight risk and a risk to the community, and told the judge the celebrity letters backing him should not, on their own, be enough to win his release.
The courtroom was packed with supporters — dozens of them, according to reporter Nancy Dillon, who reported the same outcome from the room: the judge took the matter under submission with no ruling. Among the supporters was Durk’s wife, India Royale, and as Durk was led away, the couple exchanged air kisses.
What’s next is a waiting game with no date attached. The judge gave no timeline beyond the coming days. Durk’s remaining racketeering (VICAR) trial is scheduled for August 2027, and prosecutors said at the hearing they would be happy to move that process faster.
We will update this story the moment the ruling lands.
