Nicki Minaj’s Own Lawyers Ask a Judge To Drop Her From the Pink Friday 2 Expenses Case

Nicki Minaj may be headed into her next court date with a brand-new legal team. The law firm representing her and her company, Pink Friday Productions, has asked a judge for permission to withdraw from the case, according to legal documents obtained by TMZ and reported by Hip-Hop Wired.

The firm, Kurzman Eisenberg Corbin & Lever, says in its filing that it wants off the case because of “irreconcilable differences” concerning the conduct of the representation. Per TMZ’s reporting on the documents, the firm claims there has been a breakdown in communication with Minaj, that it does not believe it can continue working for her, and that it has been struggling to serve her with notice of its decision to step away.

The case itself was filed by 24/7 Productions, which claims Minaj and Pink Friday Productions failed to reimburse more than $200,000 in expenses the production company says it racked up in connection with her Pink Friday 2 album. Those are 24/7 Productions’ allegations in its lawsuit — the claim has not been decided in court.

According to the court documents, a process server went to the building where Minaj lives in a $10 million penthouse and was told by the concierge that she was not home. Her husband, Kenneth Petty, was there, and per the filing, he told the server that the couple has a “tendency to not answer their phones.”

The request is now before a judge. If the withdrawal is granted, Minaj and Pink Friday Productions will need new counsel to defend the expense case.
